Tbilisi [Georgia], December 4: Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday announced that the powder reportedly used during protests in 2024 will undergo a thorough analysis.
Kobakhidze stressed that the investigation led by the State Security Service will examine both the documentation and the substance itself, with findings to be shared publicly.
"One thing is the documentation, another is the actual analysis of the powder. A full analysis will be performed and we will inform the public," he said.
The announcement follows a BBC report on Monday, which claimed that "a World War One-era chemical weapon" (a substance known as Camite) may have been used against protesters in Tbilisi last year.
Kobakhidze has criticized the BBC for publishing what he described as fabricated allegations, explicitly stating that the toxic substance was never used by Georgian authorities.
