New York [US], June 21: Brazil winger Raphinha suffered a hamstring injury in the 3-0 win over Haiti and it is unclear how long he will be out.
The Selecao face Scotland in their final group match on Wednesday in Miami, with knock-out progression not yet secured.
Tests confirmed that Raphinha had suffered "a muscle injury in the back of his right thigh," the Brazilian association said.
The 29-year-old will undergo an "intensive treatment programme."
The aim is for him to be fit again as soon as possible.
Raphinha was substituted shortly before half-time on Friday.
Veteran star Neymar, who has recently been struggling with a calf injury, will likely be available again for the group stage finale against Scotland, coach Carlo Ancelotti said.
Earlier, Steve Clarke said Scotland's players will "suffer" the disappointment of their 1-0 World Cup defeat by Morocco before getting ready for Brazil next week.
After beating Haiti in their Group C opener, a draw against the African champions at the Boston Stadium would have all-but guaranteed a spot in the last 32.
Morocco, ranked sixth in the world, scored through Ismael Saibari after 70 seconds and, after rolling with the punches to avoid further damage, the Scots improved after the break but were unable to find a leveller - albeit they had two penalty claims ignored by Uzbekistan referee Ilgiz Tantashev.
Scotland could still reach the last 32 with a haul of three points but a draw against Brazil in Miami should be enough for a first-ever appearance in the knockout stages.
